THINGS THAT MAKE LIFE SIMPLE

WRAPS, HATS, WALLETS,BAGS etc.

I just stitched up this sling bag plum full of Earthy goodness!  I used a super strong maroon hemp linen, a yummy caramel thin-waled corduroy, olive green corduroy, and coordinating floral corduroy & a deep maroon calico for the appliques.  The main portion of the bag is made with the caramel corduroy, and the base of the bag is made with the maroon hemp linen.  I used a chocolate piping in between the two fabrics to add some flavor!  The large olive corduroy pocket on the front measures 9 1/2" x 8 1/2 ".  I appliqued the word "SHINE" on a big ol' sun!!!  The velcro pocket is trimmed at the base with the same chocolate piping and finished off on the bottom with the maroon hemp linen.  Inside, there is a nice sized zipper pocket & a key hook...ever lost your keys at a show?  Don't...hehehe!  The bag slings over your shoulders for an easy, ready-to-go grab *WINK*.  The shoulder sling is finished off with a hemp velcro hair strap you can easily remove and use to tie your hair back! The strap is 3 1/2" x 7", and I appliqued a matching tiny sun in the center.  The bag is a good size and nice 'n' deep, so it will hold a good show's worth of travelin' things and then some!  It's also a great grocery bag!  It measures about 34 inches from top to bottom and 17 inches lying flat.  The bag is completely lined with a maroon starry calico, and it has been serged and reinforced with topstitching to make it nice 'n' sturdy!

PEYOTE BACKPACK W/COWRIES & FOSSIL CABOCHON

Here's a purty lil' backpack to carry all your goods.  To make the pack, I used a BEAUTIFUL thick upholstry fabric with a strong backing.  I peyote stitched a fossil cabochon on the front and adorned it with cowrie shells...these cowries were clipped and filed by my own lil' hands, so that they can be stitched on.  This process has been used by many indigenous tribes, such as the Philipines (my heritage), native Americans, Africans, and many pacific Islander cultures!  There is a front pocket that closes with two cocnut buttons...the pocket is pleated, so that it can expand to hold even more goodies!  Inside, there is a nice sized zipper pocket and a place to hook your keys...ever lost your keys at a show...don't...hehehe!  The backpack drawstrings closed and has a nice flap cover, where I did the peyote work.  The drawstring is finished off with matching wooden beads!  The pack is huge, so it will hold a good week's worth of travelin' things and then some!  It measures about 20 inches deep and 14 1/2 inches across the bottom.  The pack has been serged and reinforced with topstitching to make it nice 'n' sturdy!

*SHINE* SLING BAG
These wraps are a dreaddy's best friend in the summer.  Keep your dreads clean, away from the face, and nice 'n' tidy.  The wraps also help you keep your head nice and cool in the hot weather.  They are so convenient when camping, hiking, gardening, etc.  I like to wear my when I dress up and go out, too!

These wraps make tying your dreads up so easy!  There are two ways to wrap up those locks with these head dresses, and they fit many sizes!  Simply tie your hair up in a loose ponytail and wrap the dreads around the pony to make a comfortable bun.  Then pull the wrap over the dreads and criss-cross the arms  over the front like a big hug, and tie them off in the back.  You can also just skip the front wrap-around and simply tie the arms off in the back.  You can view both wrap styles by clicking on any of the wrap pics above.  Proper wrapping may take a few tries before you get it down...I will include instructions with the wraps to help you out, okay.  :c)

These cute lil' summery hats are great for protecting your face and shoulders from sunburn and UV rays. They're great to wear on the lot during those sunny days, outside in the garden, hiking, or most anytime outside.   I'll try to post some pics tonite wearing mine or one of these, so you can get a better idea of the fit.  The style is just so adorable!  To make the hats, I used yummy gurley calicos from my scrap bin.  I quilted the brims by stitching around, and around, and around...there is a close-up pic of the quilting for you to view, along with more pics of the hats, if you click on these pics.  I added support inside the brim with recycled denim.  The hats are completely lined and top-stitched, so that a secret "Star of David/Solomon's Seal"appears at the peak of the cap.   The hats fit close to the head, bell out at the rim, and lay floppy to protect your face!  The thickness of the brim allows a bit of adjustment to mold it comfortably. I made these hats SUPER durable for roughin' and toughin' it outdoors!

I just stitched up another sling bag for you kiddos out there!  Sorry I've been slacking on the bags section!  :c o   To make the bag, I used an Earthy army green linen, tasty chocolate hemp linen, and different corduroys, organic cottons, and hand dyed fabrics for the applique.  The main portion of the bag is made with the Earthy green linen, and the base of the bag is made with the chocolate hemp linen.  I used a dusty blue piping in between the two fabrics to add some flavor!  The large mushroom pocket on the front measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2 ".  I appliqued a mushroom scene on the front!!!  The pocket buttons at the top with a brass button and is trimmed at the top with the same blue piping and finished off with a deep olive corduroy. The strap is 3 1/2" x 7", and I appliqued a matching tiny mushroom in the center.  The bag is a good size and nice 'n' deep, so it will hold a good show's worth of travelin' things and then some!  It's also a great grocery bag!  It measures about 34 inches from top to bottom and 17 inches lying flat.  The bag is completely lined with a dusty blue floral calico, and it has been serged and reinforced with topstitching to make it nice 'n' sturdy!

Made with hand batiked patches created locally in Missoula, MT.  For the patterned side, I use beautiful ethnic cottons and/or batiks, which I quilt to organic cotton batting.  For the pocket side, I will use hemp or organic cotton, depending on the choice in color.  There is a loop with a mini caribiner on the top fold down flap to hold toys for your little one!

BATIK POCKET GROCERY/TRAVEL BAG
Hey all!  What I've got for you here is a nice and roomy bag that will make a perfect grocery or travel bag.  To make the bag, I used some beautiul veggie dyed fabrics and a black organic cotton duck that I just got in last  month.  Duck fabric is wonderful, because the box weave prevent the fabric from tearing!  It is a favorite fabric used to make utility clothing, such as Cartharts because of its durability.  I also used a yummy deep red linen to line the bag.  The front pocket has a hand batiked patch that was created locally in Missoula, MT.  There is another larger front pocket, too, and a pocket inside as well.  I used these beautiful shell and wood buttons from Cre of  Ocean Tribes to button the pockets.  There are 2 caribiners for keys or other things you don't want to lose, along with a keyring, too!  The purse drawstrings at the sides with a funky side strip gather that loops uptop where the shoulder straps loop through.  I finished off the drawstrings with cowry shells and woodekn batik beads just to add a bit of flavor.  This mellow bag is plum full of subtle Earthy details!

Tapestry Saddle Bags W/Adjustable Belt
The fabric is so pretty!  It is thick and durable, too!  One side is a deep lavender with black and tan vines and flowers.  The other side is reversed...black with lavender and tan vines and flowers.  The smaller top pouch folds over and lays above the lower larger pouch.  Each pouch fastens with a small and large distressed wooden button.  The pouches are both lined with recycled lining from a skirt.  The larger bottom puch has a mini pocket inside to hold change, your ID, money, and an included butterfly accordian address book.  These are terrific little doodads!
The adjustable belt has seven sets of double groment eylets for the vintage double pronged brass buckle.  The belt is lined and double layered for durability.  The belt measures 29 inches round at its smallest and 39 inches at its largest.  The belt width is 1 5/8 inches wide and can be worn alone, too!

Greetings mamas!  What I've got for you here is a removable pair of saddle bags with a coordinating adjustable belt!  I made a couple of these around Christmas and decided to keep one.  I decided to finally list this pair to see what you think about them.  :c)
To make this pair, I used to front and reverse  sides of a heavy recycled cotton tapestry fabric.
